Opening a tattoo studio was always the dream. But as an artist, the biggest realization along the way was simple: environment is everything.
I created The black lantern so that i could have a space to reflect who I am, what I love, and what inspires me—all so I can create my best work alongside some of my best friends who also inspire me and my work. progress and growth come from intentionally working hard at making progress and growing.
your space for creating is sacred; just like the ancient art of tattoo. Creating the environment i’ve always dreamt about did not come easy, or quickly. it has, however, been ab absolute labor of love.
collecting new art and replacing light fixtures or just painting the walls a totally different color are all ways to start fresh. i will say, however, a truly great environment can only be built with a solid foundation of respect for the craft, a clear vision and lot of perseverance. It’s worth every bead of sweat and cent spent.
surrounding yourself with friends and likeminded, hardworking people is imperative.
